The Kids

Kids with Cancer Society

Established in 1979, the Kids with Cancer Society was built through the efforts of volunteer parents and members of the community. Over the years, as the prognosis for childhood cancer has improved, the services of the Society have expanded to include the emotional, clinical and research needs of children. Today the Kids with Cancer Society provides an essential service that is not offered by any other organization - services that are essential throughout the fight against childhood cancer. Families who are affected by the disease continuously articulate the need for these services

Elexis's Beaded JourneyÒJust image hearing the words your child has cancerÓ. The diagnosis of childhood cancer is likely the greatest challenge that a family will ever encounter. From the time of diagnosis, the Kids with Cancer Society is there providing support and programs that will assist them throughout their journey with childhood cancer.

In order to meet the needs of the whole child and their families from the time of diagnosis, throughout treatment, survivorship and beyond, programs are developed to address the unique needs of our children. Not only does the Society provide essential practical and psychosocial support to children with cancer and their families, but we also provide valuable funding to support childhood cancer research activities and research on the long term effects of childhood cancer.

By working closely with the medical team who care for our children, and by listening to our families we have been successful in providing over 30 programs that will have the greatest impact on childhood cancer. All of our programs are designed to either enhance or create new opportunities thereby ensuring that there is no duplication or overlap of resources and services.
